Nico Hoerner to IL with Oblique Strain, RHP Jake Jewell Selected from AAA
The Cubs have placed Nico Hoerner on the 10-day IL with a right oblique strain suffered in Wednesday’s loss. Sergio Alcántara has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa to fill the roster spot and could be up for a while given the tricky nature of the injury.

In another move, righty Jake Jewell has been selected from Triple-A Iowa. Cory Abbott was optioned to Triple-A to make room on the active roster and Kohl Stewart was placed on the 60-day IL in order to make room on the 40-man roster.
