
Cubs Option Little, Dean as Spring Roster Trimmed to 46
The Cubs made a few more personnel moves on Thursday, reducing the spring roster by seven. You can read more about the moves in the media release below.
MESA, Ariz. – The Chicago Cubs today reduced the Spring Training roster from 53 to 46 players.
Left-handed pitchers Luke Little and Ryan Rolison and outfielder Justin Dean have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
Right-handed pitcher Vince Velasquez, catchers Ariel Armas and Casey Opitz and outfielder Brett Bateman have been returned to minor league camp.
Chicago’s Spring Training roster of 46 players consists of 25 pitchers (five non-roster invitees), four catchers (one non-roster invitee), 10 infielders (four non-roster invitees) and seven outfielders (three non-roster invitees).
