
Owen Caissie to Play for Team Canada in 2026 World Baseball Classic
A third Chicago Cubs player has committed to play in the World Baseball Classic, though this time it’s not for Team USA. Owen Caissie will represent Team Canada in the 2026 WBC, marking his second time on their roster.

He recorded three hits across Canada’s three games, including a home run. He also drew a walk and struck out twice.

It was a disappointing rookie season for Caissie in 2025, largely because he appeared in only twelve games due to injury and limited playing time. He flashed the hard contact he was known for in Triple-A, but didn’t have enough runway to showcase the full potential the team believes he possesses.
