Cubs to Honor 2023 HoF Inductees Mark Grace, Shawon Dunston with Weekend-Long Celebration
The Chicago Cubs will honor the Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame Class of 2023 inductees during a three-day celebration Friday, September 8, through Sunday, September 10, at Wrigley Field. Earlier this year at Cubs Convention, former shortstop Shawon Dunston and former first baseman Mark Grace were announced as the 2023 inductees by Cubs Executive Chairman Tom Ricketts after having received the most votes by the Hall of Fame Voting Committee.
Friday’s game will be dedicated to Dunston and Saturday’s game will be dedicated to Grace. Each day will include a pregame photo session with Season Ticket Holders, special on-field recognition, in-game highlights and more.
On Sunday, September 10, their Hall of Fame plaques will be unveiled in the Left Field Budweiser Bleacher concourse and both inductees will be honored on the field pregame where they will receive their Hall of Fame jackets for their dedication to the club. Dunston and Grace also will throw out ceremonial first pitches and sing the seventh-inning stretch. The first 10,000 fans will receive special pins honoring the inductees.
In addition, the Cubs will be launching a new pop-up exhibit presented by Marquee Sports Network at Gallagher Way where fans can view jerseys, bats, baseballs, trophies, awards and more from within the Cubs and Wrigley Field Archives. Notable items from the collection include the 1876, 1907 and 1908 Championship trophies, Ernie Banks’ 1959 MVP Award, Fergie Jenkins’ 1969 game-used jersey and more from the storied history of Wrigley Field. Pat Hughes’ 2023 Ford C. Frick Award will also be on display. The pop-up exhibit will be located in the current Marquee Sports Network space at Gallagher Way and will be open from Friday, September 8, through the end of the regular season.
