DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Opening June 27
Construction on the DraftKings sportsbook at Wrigley Field has finally been completed and the facility is set to open on June 27 when the Cubs return from London to host the Phillies. The 17,000-ish square foot venue is considered a separate building from Wrigley, which explains how they were able to skirt federal landmark requirements, though windows along one side will allow fans to see into Wrigley’s concourse.
There is a massive video board, a full restaurant and bar, and much more. But you know what isn’t there? An actual sportsbook. Because DraftKings has not yet met regulatory requirements, there are no betting kiosks and they can’t accept wagers. So it’s basically a really fancy B-Dubs for the time being.
“Why you are here versus sitting at home on your couch?” Blake Milburn of Marquee Development asked rhetorically when discussing the facility. “You probably don’t have that in your living room. We try to provide a unique one-of-a-kind experience.”

Whatever you say, Blake. I suppose I’ll find myself wandering into this place at some point just to take a look, but I didn’t like it when it was just a concept because the whole thing smacks of the same sort of cart-before-the-horse business decisions we’ve seen from this organization for far too long.
