Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (6/6/21): Cubs 4, Giants 3 – Wisdom Salvages Final Game in SF
Things had not gone well for the Cubs in San Francisco this weekend, but total disaster was avoided Sunday when a quality starting pitching performance combined with more heroics from Patrick Wisdom in a Chicago win.
The Giants jumped on Kyle Hendricks early when LaMonte Wade homered against him to open the bottom of the 1st. Donovan Solano singled home another run to make it 2-0 after an inning.
Wisdom cut that deficit in half with a solo shot to center against Johnny Cueto in the 2nd. Buster Posey had a run-scoring double in bottom of the frame, but Hendricks seemed to lock in after the Giants catcher was thrown out at home to end the threat.
The burly Cubs third baseman tied the game with a two-run jack to center in the 4th. Hendricks doubled off of Cueto and scored on a rare Posey error the next inning to put Chicago ahead 4-3.
The Professor made it to the 7th inning before getting the hook. Ryan Tepera, Andrew Chafin, and Craig Kimbrel once again closed out a one-run win. (Box score)

After three games of bad starts, Hendricks ground out a decent one.
Key Moment
Javy Báez hit a grounder to shortstop Mauricio Dubon with the bases loaded in the 5th. Dubon threw home and catcher Buster Posey dropped the ball, allowing a run to score.
