Wrigley Field Increasing to 60% Capacity on May 28

As the Cubs announced Thursday, Wrigley Field will move to 60% capacity as of May 28. This will allow nearly 25,000 fans to purchase tickets to each game starting on May 18 at 10am CT. This is in line with Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot’s plan to have Chicago fully open by the Fourth of July, so expect additional capacity increases in the coming weeks.

Chicago and other major metro areas have seen sharp declines in COVID positivity rates, hospitalizations, and deaths since widespread vaccinations began earlier in the year. That said, it’s still very important to continue that trend as the eligibility guidelines expand to include younger children. As of this post, though age 12 and older have been approved.

If we all keep working together to end this pandemic, we’ll see Wrigley and other venues at full capacity before the end of the summer.
