Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/4/21): Happ Leads Longshot Crew, Williams Makes Cubs Spring Debut

The Cubs play their first night game of the spring Thursday, facing the Dodgers at Camelback Ranch. Ian Happ leads things off in center, followed by Nico Hoerner batting and playing second, and Ildemaro Vargas at short. David Bote is at third and Austin Romine is catching.

Rafael Ortega is in right, Patrick Wisdom is the DH, Alfonso Rivas is at first, and Michael Hermosillo is in left. That bottom half doesn’t feature any household names, but some of these guys have already made a little noise in the first three games.

Trevor Williams will be on the mound for the first time in a Cubs uniform and perhaps he’ll be working on his slider as we saw earlier in workouts. The former Pirate is looking to rebound from two down years in Pittsburgh and has been making little tweaks with the help of pitching coach Tommy Hottovy.

Among the pitchers slated to follow Williams are Cory Abbott, Joe Biagini, Rex Brothers, Trevor Megill, Michael Rucker, and Jerry Vasto.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm ET and can be seen on MLB Network.
