Yu Darvish Finishes Second in 2020 Cy Young Voting

As most of you probably feared heading into the announcement, Trevor Bauer has been named the NL Cy Young winner ahead of Yu Darvish. Bauer received 27 first-pace and three second-place votes from the panel of BBWAA writers, giving him a total of 201 points. Darvish had three firsts, 24 seconds, and four thirds, giving him 123 points.

Wait, that means someone left him off their ballot altogether. J.P. Hoornstra, Dodgers beat writer for the Southern California News Group, did not feel as though Darvish was among the five best pitchers in the National League. Never trust a Dutchman, I say. I’ve actually never said that before, but I think I’ll have to start after this.

All of this goes to show that hard work pays off, though it apparently pays off more when you use foreign substances to improve your grip and send your spin rates skyrocketing.

Oh well, there’s always next year
