Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/7/20, LV SS): Bryant Leads Off, Happ in CF, Alec Mills Starting

The Cubs have dispatched a portion of their spring roster to Las Vegas for a two-game weekend set against the Reds, which is should be a lot of fun for some of them. Kris Bryant is particularly happy about the miniseries because it allows him to spend time at home and accompany his wife to the doctor’s office to check on the progress of her pregnancy.

He’ll be leading off at third, with Anthony Rizzo at first and Josh Phegley catching. Ian Happ cleans up in center, Nico Hoerner bats fifth at short, Jason Kipnis is at second, and Noel Cuevas is in right. PJ Higgins serves as DH and Ian Miller finishes the order in left.

Alec Mills will try to extend a hitless stretch that spans six innings over three previous spring appearances. Much like Kyle Hendricks, who is starting the other half of the Cubs’ split twin bill, Mills relies on movement and location far more than velocity. It’s worked really well for him at the MLB level, though, and he can’t be discounted when it comes to earning that final rotation spot.

First pitch from the new Las Vegas Ballpark is set for 3:05pm CT and can be seen on Marquee Sports Network. There will be no radio call of this game from either team, so don’t be alarmed when you pull up the audio from 670 The Score and hear Pat Hughes describing a game in Arizona that started an hour earlier.
