Cubs Roster Moves: Kyle Ryan to Bereavement List, Alec Mills Recalled

The Cubs announces that lefty Kyle Ryan, who pitched 2.1 innings of mop-up duty Thursday night, has been placed on the bereavement list. Righty Alec Mills has been recalled from Iowa to take his place on the roster for the time being. A stay on the bereavement list lasts from 3-7 days, so Ryan could be back in time to pitch against the Phillies and will definitely be back when the Cubs travel to Pittsburgh.

Mills has served in a spot-start role and could be used in long relief should it be required. Ideally, he’ll just be hanging out in the bullpen for a few days.
