Cubs Roster Moves: Robel Garcia Optioned to Make Room for Nick Castellanos

Robel Garcia gave the Cubs the shot in the arm they were hoping for when they called him up on July 3, but he’s since come back to earth as pitchers got a book on him. So with second baseman Tony Kemp joining the team and Nicholas Castellanos in need of a roster spot, Garcia is being optioned back to Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs will lose a little pop in the process, but they gain a great deal of contact hitting and will be able to lengthen the lineup with Kemp and Castellanos. Garcia is an awesome story, though, so here’s to hoping this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him.
