Chicago Cubs Lineup (5/26/19): Schwarber Leads Off, Bryant in RF, Quintana Pitching

Kyle Schwarber remains in the top spot, Kris Bryant shifts to right, Anthony Rizzo is at first, and Javy Báez takes short. Willson Contreras is back in the lineup after two days off, Jason Heyward is in center, David Bote plays third, and Daniel Descalso rounds things out at second.

His name sounds like an order Noah would ha e barked out, and the Cubs are hoping to flood Tanner Roark with runs in this one. That wasn’t the case when they last faced him in Cincinnati, though they were able to get to his slider and change.

My son and I are heading out to visit Ernie Banks at Graceland Cemetery as I write this, so I’m going to be really short on analysis here. Roark is a solid pitcher, no doubt, but the Cubs should be able to get to him. That 0.35 HR/9 mark is just not sustainable, especially not as the weather warms. It’ll be significantly cooler at Wrigley Sunday than it was Saturday, but the ball will still carry.

A series win after a disappointing loss Friday would send them to Houston feeling good. Jose Quintana will have a role in making that happen, something he wasn’t able to do when these teams last squared off. The long outing from Darvish yesterday may have give the bullpen a bit of a rest, but Q still needs to put up a solid performance.
