Cubs Option LHP Randy Rosario, Recall RHP Alec Mills

The Cubs swapped a little back-end bullpen depth Sunday morning, optioning lefty Randy Rosario to Triple-A and recalling righty Alec Mills. This gives them a reliever who’s a little more stretched out, which could be a need with a bullpen start Sunday and Jon Lester’s return still at least a few days off.

And the way things have gone with the ‘pen, the Cubs need to keep making some moves to see whether they can get someone to really take hold of the role. Or at least that’s the hope.

  1. Plus they have Collins and Ryan pitching decent of late, and Montgomery coming back. So with Rosario not being very reliable so far this year, he’s definitely one too many lefties. Even as it is, someone else will have to go when Monty comes back.
