Cubs Quick Hits: Javy Baez Boasts Top 5 Baserunning Score

I don’t think you need any stats to tell you that Javy is one of the league’s best baserunners. Even so, I think it’s worth mentioning that El Mago’s run production on the basepaths puts him in MLB’s upper echelon.

According to FanGraphs’ BsR score (an all-encompassing statistic that turns stolen bases, caught stealings, and other baserunning plays into runs), Javy has created 6.1 runs on the bases with his feet, brain, and guile. That ranks fifth out of 164 qualified players, which means he’s created more value on the basepaths that 97 percent of  all other players.

Only Jose Ramirez (7.0), Billy Hamilton (6.5), Starling Marte (6.4), and Eddie Rosario (6.2) rank ahead of Javy at this point.
