Watch: David Bote Launches First Career Homer

David Bote was looking like just another organizational slot-filler until the Cubs worked with him on some changes to his approach. The third baseman hasn’t really bulked up or altered his swing in any way, but he’s looking to ambush fastballs and really pick his spots to pop.

That was on display Wednesday afternoon as he destroyed a first-pitch two-seamer from Francisco Liriano into the juniper bushes in center. Statcast had the blast at 440 feet, not a bad effort for his first MLB homer.
