Cubs @ Brewers – Series Preview (June 11-13): TV and Game Info, Starting Pitchers, Insights
After winning two out of three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend, the Cubs head to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers in an important three-game series that will determine the NL Central division leader. Milwaukee enters the series with a half game lead in the division. In the season series up until this point, the Cubs have won 7 of the 8 games played and they’ll look to continue that trend this week.
The Cubs, winners of their last five series, currently sit at 37-25 and have won 12 of their last 16 games. The Cubs’ rotation is one of the team’s biggest question marks as of now with Tyler Chatwood’s inconsistency and command issues and Yu Darvish currently on the DL. Chatwood and Mike Montgomery, Darvish’s current replacement in the rotation, will both get an opportunity to start in this series.
The Brewers enter the series with a 39-26 record having won two out of three games against the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend. Christian Yelich (.310, 8 HR), Jesus Aguilar (.290, 11 HR), and Travis Shaw (.248, 14 HR) lead the Brewer’s offense and will be important to slow down in order for the Cubs to win this series.

What To Watch For
- Jason Heyward has been seeing the ball well since returning from the DL and he’s currently hitting .314 in the month of June. He has an extra base hit in each of the last four games and is playing, arguably, the best stretch of baseball in his career as a Cub. He could be a wild card in this series for the Cubs.
- Kris Bryant is hitting .412 over the last seven days, but is only on pace for 22 HR’s at this point in the season. It’s too early for this to be a concern, but it’s worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses. My bet is that he catches fire sooner than later.
- Tyler Chatwood takes the mound on Tuesday and has struggled mightily with his command so far this season. He currently leads the league in walks by 21 and has issued 56 walks to only 53 strikeouts. It’s imperative that he regains his command moving forward to provide stability to the back end of the rotation.
