Watch: Ian Happ Hits Another Leadoff Home Run

Were it not for the unique screencaps we use for featured images, we could probably just save this title to make it easier to post these videos. Ian Happ went yard for the seventh time this spring Saturday night, and it was his fifth jack to lead off the game for the Cubs. It was also his third against a pitcher named either Madison Bumgarner or Felix Hernandez.

Listen, I totally get the desire for a traditional leadoff type who takes pitches and gets on base a ton, but Happ is just destroying souls and psyches up there. We’ve discussed it here before, but leading off a game with a dinger gives the visiting team roughly a 56 percent chance to win. When the home team jumps in front with a leadoff homer, their win expectancy is north of 70 percent.

Do your thing, Happer.
