Chicago Cubs Lineup (Vegas): Rizzo Leads Off, Heyward Cleans Up, Zastryzny Starts

Were it not for last year’s experiment, I’d be making a pun about how Joe Maddon was gambling by putting Anthony Rizzo in the leadoff spot. But with none of the other candidates for the spot with the team in Vegas, Rizzo makes as much sense as anyone.

Kris Bryant bats second and handles DH duties, Addison Russell follows and plays short, and Jason Heyward cleans up in right. Because it’s only spring training and doesn’t bear much attention, I won’t make much out of that latter spot. Still, Heyward hasn’t looked great and this is more a matter of the bottom half of the lineup being MiLB and NRI guys.

Victor Caratini is catching, Ryan Court is at third, Jacob Hannemann — who made some very loud contact Saturday evening — is in center, Chesny Young plays second, and Charcer Burks is in left.

Rob Zastryzny will be on the mound for the Cubs as they face the Indians for the second consecutive day at Cashman Field. The 3:05 pm CT start will be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago and can be heard on 670 The Score.
