Chicago Cubs Lineup (Mesa): Zobrist Leads Off, Javy at Short, Chatwood Starting

With half the team in Vegas, the Cubs will once again play a split double-header Sunday. Ben Zobrist, fresh off a home run in yesterday’s game, bats at the top of the order and plays second base for the Mesa squad.

Javy Beaz is batting second and playing short with Addison Russell out of town, but don’t think this is any sort of precursor. Willson Contreras is behind the plate and Kyle Schwarber, who continued his spring raking with a double and triple Saturday, is in left.

Albert Almora Jr. is in center, Tommy La Stella is at third, Efren Navarro is at first, and Peter Bourjos is in right. Neither of the latter duo is a good bet to break camp with the Cubs, but both are getting a nice showcase in Mesa. Navarro in particular has shown nice pop.

Tyler Chatwood will be on the mound to continue what has been an excellent spring thus far. Paired with a new staff that includes secret weapon Mike Borzello, Chatwood is making good on the potential that made him one of the Cubs’ top targets this past offseason.

First pitch is 3:05 pm CT and can be seen on MLB.tv (for those outside the blackout cloud) or heard via Cubs.com.
