Zastryzny, Tseng, Bote Among 9 Reassignments, Cubs Spring Roster Sits at 40

The Cubs’ spring roster is now at 40 after nine players were assigned to minor league camp. No surprises in this round of moves, though several of the names in question have played really well thus far in Arizona.

Here’s the lowdown from the official press release:

Right-handed pitchers Luke Farrell, Cory Mazzoni, Alec Mills and Jen-Ho Tseng; left-handed pitchers Dario Alvarez and Rob Zastryzny; and infielder David Bote have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Two non-roster invitees have been assigned to minor league camp: infielder Chesny Young and outfielder Jacob Hannemann.

Chicago’s spring roster of 40 players consists of 20 pitchers (three non-roster invitees), five catchers (three non-roster invitees), 10 infielders (three non-roster invitees) and five outfielders (one non-roster invitee).
