Win Tickets To See Cubs & White Sox Legends Compete in Home Run Derby & Softball Game Sept 23

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably having a hard time believing that we’re in the final month of the regular season already, but here we are. College football is in full swing, NFL games start on Thursday, and the MLB playoffs will be underway before you know it.

September also brings us the Larry A. Pogofsky All-Star Challenge, in which a bevy of former Cubs and White Sox studs will come together to compete in a home run derby and softball game, all to raise money for charity. Funds raised this year will be split between Jermaine Dye’s Fresh Start Caring For Kids Foundation and a charity to be named by Carlos Zambrano.

Cubs Insider is honored to partner with the Pogofsky family to help support this event and they’ve been kind enough to donate some tickets for us to give away to you. Simply retweet the Cubs Insider tweet that has the link to this post and you will automatically be entered to win tickets to the game on September 23. There will be lots of winners so tweet early and encourage others to do the same.

Here are more details on the event:

On September 23, 2017, former Cubs and White Sox players and coaches will come together in Schaumburg, Ill. to hold a softball event to raise money for local charities. The Larry A. Pogofsky All-Star Challenge will feature names like Derrek Lee, Fergie Jenkins, Carlos Zambrano, Jerome Walton, and Jermaine Dye, among others.

The festivities will get started at noon with a kids clinic held on the Boomers Stadium field. This is a great chance for kids of all ages to meet the players and get a few baseball tips as they rotate through a variety of skills stations. Don’t worry, though, Big Z isn’t going to teach your kid how to plunk Jim Edmonds. Or maybe you want him to. Tickets for the clinic are $75 and space is limited to only 100 kids.

The home run derby will immediately follow the kids clinic and will feature Cliff Floyd, Jermaine Dye, Adam Russell, Freddy Garcia and Carlos Zambrano. The softball game itself is scheduled to begin after the home run derby around 2 pm. Tickets run $25 for standard admission or $100 for VIP. Those in the latter group will have a chance to mingle with the players at a postgame picnic and will also receive a special gift. Not bad.

Cubs players will be in the visitor’s/third base dugout and White Sox will be in the home/first base dugout.

Rosters are subject to change, but here’s a look at who’s confirmed as of this point:
