Cubs Announce Return of Giordano’s, New Security for Spring Training Games at Sloan Park
Wrigley Field joined the ranks of sporting venues with metal detectors at their entrances last year, so it comes as no surprise that we’d see similar measures enacted at Sloan Park. The Cubs confirmed as much with an email sent out Friday to Spring Training season ticket holders.
The twist for the Cubs’ Arizona home is that all guests must now enter the park through a security screening involving hand-held metal detectors. At Wrigley you pass through metal detectors prior to entry, so unless you look like one bad dude or you’re just really angry or you have a metal hip, you normally don’t get the hand-held treatment. The way I read this, it sounds like everyone is going to get wanded this year. So much for feeling special when they pull me aside.
Oh, and Giordano’s is returning, so that’s awesome news.

The countdown is on! Your World Champion Cubs are ready to welcome you back to Sloan Park. Below are some important updates to help you prepare for your upcoming visit to our ballpark, including the implementation of a security enhancement and the addition of some exciting new amenities.
As part of our ongoing commitment to fan safety, all guests entering Sloan Park must go through a security screening using hand-held metal detectors. This enhanced security process will be in place by our home opener Saturday, February 25. Gates will continue to open 1.5 hours prior to game time. We encourage you to arrive early and plan for additional time needed to enter the ballpark. We also continue our commitment to delivering best-in-class service and memorable moments to our fans. From celebratory World Series décor and pageantry throughout our ballpark to our expanded team store featuring championship gear and more variety, we hope you’ll enjoy our enhanced amenities. We’re happy to welcome Beam Suntory, the Cubs’ newest Legacy Partner, to Sloan Park. As part of our partnership, we’re introducing a new “Jim Beam Bourbon Bar” which will serve premium drinks and ballpark fare and feature an expanded gathering space in left field. Last but certainly not least, we’re excited to welcome back our Pizza Partner, Giordano’s! Giordano’s individual deep dish pizzas will be available for purchase at the Taste of Chicago concession stands during home games.

Please note you can print your tickets until 11:59 p.m. CST Wednesday, February 22, at which time the “print-at-home” functionality will be removed from My Cubs Tickets.
