Revisiting Glory: David Ross’s Last Career Hit, a Home Run in Game 7 of the World Series (Fan Video)

David Ross had a long, successful MLB career spanning 14 years. He become an icon two short years with the Cubs, a true team leader both on and off the field. He was also the personal catcher for Jon Lester. So when Joe Maddon brought Lester into Game 7 of the World Series, he also called on Ross.

After such an amazing run — like that incredible video tribute the Cubs put together, hitting a home run in his final regular season home game, and oh, the part about the Cubs’ run to the World Series — you might have thought there was nothing more to add to the closing paragraph of the last chapter of Grandpa Rossy’s tale.

And then, with one mighty swing of the bat in the top of the 6th inning of the World Series finale, Ross closed things out with an exclamation mark.
