Roster Update: Joe Nathan to Join Cubs on Sunday
Joe Nathan, who the Cubs signed on May 17, will reportedley join the Chicago Cubs on Sunday in Milwaukee. Joe had Tommy John surgery in 2015 and has been working his way back ever since.
Nathan has been rehabbing at double A Tennessee and triple A Iowa since June 23. In eleven games he’s thrown 9.1 innings, allowing four runs on three hits and five walks with nine strikeouts.
According to Joe Maddon, Nathan’s velocity and breaking ball both look solid. This is one more piece for the Cubs that was a low risk move but could turn into a high return if Nathan is able to get anywhere near is former level of productivity.
There’s no word yet on what the corresponding move will be to make room on the 25-man roster. We’ll update you as soon as we hear more.
