Roster Shake Up: Dex is Back, Almora Sent Down, Montgomery Arrives, & More

A lot has happened for the Chicago Cubs over the last few days so we wanted to lay it all out and let you know who is going where.

If you haven’t already seen the lineup for tonight’s game check it out because Dexter Fowler has been activated off the DL and is batting in the lead-off spot. To make room for Dex, Albert Almora has been sent back to triple A Iowa. Albert made the most of his time with the Cubs, filling in dutifully for Dexter Fowler, batting a respectable .265/.291/.422 including 2 home runs in 86 plate appearances. Here is a short interview of him (click here if the video doesn’t load).

Mike Montgomery – the left-handed pitcher the Cubs traded Dan Vogelbach for yesterday to Seattle – is with the team tonight in Milwaukee and it’s possible we’ll get to see him pitch. In order to make room for Mike on the roster the Cubs sent Spencer Patton down to triple A Iowa.

Jorge Soler and Chris Coghlan have been sent to double A Tennessee to rehab from their injuries. In fact, Chris is in the lineup tonight batting lead-off and playing left field for the Smokies’ game in their game against the Mississippi Braves. You can watch it on milb.tv right now.
