Just how great must John Lackey be feeling this morning after completely crushing his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals. John struck out 11 batters, which is one short of his career high, over seven innings to get the win last night. And if that wasn’t enough, John also hit an RBI single to drive in Matt Szczur in the top of the seventh inning.
After signing a two-year $32 million contract in the offseason with the Cubs, at age 37, it’s safe to say that Lackey is on the horizon of what has been a great career. And wouldn’t winning a World Series with the Cubs be a really cool way to end his career? Um, yes, yes it would.
