KB-9: Videos of Bryant’s Homers

According to my Twitter notifications, an account called “Did Kris Bryant HR?” just followed me. Given the fact that the Cubs super-prospect now has 9 bombs in 28 at-bats over 11 games, the answer to the nominal question is most likely “yes.” For what it’s worth, the Braves and Marlins have each combined for 9 home runs so far this spring.

The homers are spectacular, but the rest of Bryant’s stats are perhaps even more absurd. He’s slashing .464/.531/1.500, which is good for 2.031 OPS. No, that is not a typo. Of the next 8 players behind Bryant in the SLG category, none has more than 6 plate appearances. The only guy with a higher OPS has had 3 at-bats.

Throw in the B-game shot that doesn’t count toward the totals, and you’d have an even more ludicrous set of numbers. I suppose it’s possible that every other team is sending to the bump guys who got lost on their way to their respective ballparks that day, but it’s not as if those hosers are facing only Bryant each outing.

You’ve probably seen most of these and I know I’ve already published a couple posts with Vines and vids, but I wanted something a little more comprehensive. MLB.com doesn’t have all of them (the 2-HR game in Las Vegas vs. Oakland is missing), but below are videographic pimentos of seven glorious longballs. Enjoy.
