With Spring Training Right Around the Corner, Cubs Insider Will Have You Covered

Who here would like this offseason to just go on forever? You don’t have to answer that (but feel free to in the comments below), it’s a rhetorical question that really only serves to emphasize how truly incredible the last couple months have been. Never have I been so happy to be floating along through winter months devoid of live baseball while being able to happily subsist on video replays of the Cubs’ last game of the year. It’s been awesome.

But it’s going to come to an end here soon. That’s the bad news. The good news is that the Cubs are once again World Series favorites and the road to repeat begins with a month-long party known as Spring Training. We’ll be posting like crazy once the action begins at Sloan Park and I’ll be at every home game, joined intermittently by Evan, Brendan, and Corey. That also means covering other goings-on, like the action on the backfields — oh those wonderful backfields — and the behind-the-scenes stuff, to keep you up on everything the Cubs are into.

The Cubs recently announced the Spring Training report dates (click here for the game schedule), so check the excerpt from the official press release below to find out when you’ll need to ratchet up your level of giddiness over the next few weeks.

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced their report dates for 2017 Spring Training. Pitchers and catchers are invited to report on Tuesday, February 14 with their first workout taking place on Wednesday, February 15. Position players are invited to report on Friday, February 17 with the first full squad workout on Saturday, February 18.

Additionally, the Cubs have added a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Scottsdale on Thursday, March 2 at 7:10 p.m. Arizona time.

My expectation is that Spring Training at Sloan Park and the surrounding area is going to be a fantastic opportunity to continue celebrating the Cubs World Series championship. For those of you who will be out here and haven’t had the chance to see it yet, the Commissioner’s Trophy will be in Arizona too as part of its ongoing tour. Be sure to visit us at Cubs Insider for all the latest news on Spring Training and everything else from the around Cubdom.
