Marquee Now Available on Prime Video, Hulu
After years of carriage struggles with streaming platforms, Marquee Sports Network is once again back on Hulu + Live TV. This news comes more than five years after the previous agreement ended with the close of the 2020 season, which makes sense given the timing. That wasn’t just a Marquee thing, as Hulu dropped other RSNs as well, but similar complications with YouTube TV arose as well.
Marquee announced Wednesday that it is available on Hulu + Live TV in the Cubs’ local broadcast market at no additional fee, which is a nice wrinkle. The network is also available for purchase through Prime Video, though I’m not really sure how that’s different from just going straight to the source. Maybe the difference is that you don’t have to worry about Marquee’s audio remaining on even after you leave the app.
“These agreements represent meaningful momentum as we continue expanding distribution and providing greater flexibility for fans,” Sinclair senior VP Will Bell said in a statement. “With the addition of Hulu + Live TV and the launch on Prime Video, we are ensuring comprehensive access to Cubs coverage across both traditional streaming bundles and direct-to-consumer platforms in time for Opening Day.”
It should be noted that Cubs games can still only be viewed on Marquee through those subscribers located in the team’s MLB-defined local territory. Or to those who know how to mask their IP address. Otherwise, you’re still better off getting MLB.TV for regular-season coverage. And a spring game every week or so.
