Cubs Claim LHP Ryan Rolison from White Sox

And you thought the Cubs only had one big pitching addition in them today. With several open spots remaining, they were able to take a flyer on a guy they’ll probably try to get through waivers. See media release below for more on this move.

The Chicago Cubs today claimed left-handed pitcher Ryan Rolison off waivers from the Chicago White Sox. The Cubs 40-man roster currently stands at 37.

Rolison, 28, made his major league debut last season with the Colorado Rockies and appeared in 31 games (one start), pitching to a 1-0 record with a 7.02 ERA (33 ER/42.1 IP) and 25 strikeouts. With Triple-A Albuquerque in 2025, he went 3-1 with one save and recorded a 3.34 ERA (11 ER/29.2 IP) with 32 strikeouts across 20 appearances, all but one in relief.

The six-foot two-inch lefty owns a 17-17 record with one save, a 4.43 ERA (157 ER/318.2 IP) and 319 strikeouts in 103 games (60 starts) across six minor league seasons, all within the Colorado Rockies system.

A native of Jackson, Tenn., Rolison was selected by Colorado in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2018 draft out of the University of Mississippi.
