Watch: Addison Russell Dives into Cheesy Situation, Delivers Nachos to Cards Fan
With the Cubs leading 5-0 in the top of the 2nd, Jedd Gyorko popped a foul wide of third and Addison Russell gave chase. The shortstop dove into the seats beyond the short wall down the line, spilling nachos all over himself and the field as he did.
When Russell headed out to the field the following inning, he carried some fresh nachos to the Cardinals fan who’d been the victim of the dive. In a subsequent interview, the fan said he’d gained new respect for the Cubs, which I guess means he *ahem* doesn’t have a chip on his shoulder. But you have to admit that it was a pretty cheesy move by Russell.
Nacho Man became something of an instant celebrity in St. Louis, where the fans have been clamoring for a mascot to pair with Fredbird ever since Rally Cat ran off.
