Injury Update: Eloy Jimenez Rehabbing in Mesa at Extended Spring Training (Video & Photo Gallery)

Eloy Jimenez, who injured his right shoulder during Cactus League play earlier this spring, has begun rehabbing at extended spring training down in Mesa, Arizona. He’s started in four games so far (stats via Arizona Phil at The Cub Reporter):

  • April 20 – Started in right field, played 3 innings before moving to DH, 0-for-2
  • April 21 – Started in left field, played 4 innings before moving to DH, 1-for-2, double
  • May 8 – Started in right field, played 5 innings, 1-for-3, single
  • May 9 – Started in right field, moved to DH, 1-for-4, single, RBI

Jimenez got in some at-bats today as the DH in two extended spring training games against Diamondbacks minor leaguers. I was able to capture video of four of those at-bats (below). None of them were hits but he did drive one ball deep to left field and hit another sharp line drive to the third baseman.

After he finished up, I had the chance to ask him about his shoulder and his outlook. He told me he’s feeling great and that he expects to play a full nine innings in the next day or two. Assuming he stays on track with his rehab, we should expect to see Jimenez at Myrtle Beach as early as next week.
